Jiangsu University and Graz University Confucius Institute organized a summer camp for 20 Austrian middle school students in July 2013.

From July 13 to July 16, students experienced making dough figurines, paper-cutting, learning to speak Chinese, making dumpling, appreciating Chinese culture (e.g. the vinegar culture especially in Zhenjiang; the legend of White Snake Watering Jinshan Temple). They also visited some ancient scenic spots such as Xi-Jin-Du, Pearl S Buck’s Memorial Museum. The students surely enjoyed Chinese cuisine and some fitness sports such as Taiji, table tennis and badminton. In order to let them better understand Chinese routine life, different local middle school student’s family entertained corresponding Austrian middle school student; these youngsters could not help shedding tears while saying goodbye to each other.
